Final Cleanout at Sears in Burbank: A Full-Circle Moment for A to Z Hauling Junk Removal

On September 3, 2025, we were called in to complete one of the final pickup jobs at the Sears near the Burbank Town Center.

The items themselves were simple — a few remaining refrigerators, ranges, and leftover fixtures.

But walking into that building after everything had already been cleared out felt different.

It felt quiet in a way that’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it before.

If you’ve ever walked back into a home after moving everything out, you know the feeling. The space is still there — but the energy that once filled it isn’t the same.

That’s what this day felt like.

Growing Up at the Burbank Town Center

Long before starting A to Z Hauling, that Sears was already part of my life.

Back in middle school, my friends and I used to spend a lot of time at the Burbank mall. We didn’t have a beach nearby, and there weren’t endless places to go — so the mall became the place everyone gathered.

Arcade. Food court. Just walking around with friends.

And Sears was always part of that routine.

We would head downstairs into the appliance and tool sections and just roam around. No destination. No schedule. Just being kids growing up in Burbank.

Even the staff there always made the place feel welcoming.

It’s one of those spaces that quietly becomes part of your story without you realizing it at the time.

Coming Back Years Later — As a Local Business

A few months before the final pickup, we had already completed another haul-out job at the same location.

At that time, it didn’t feel like the end yet.

But this visit was different.

This time the store was empty.

Walking through the space knowing these were some of the last remaining items being removed gave the moment a real sense of closure — not just for the building, but personally too.

Years earlier, I was walking those same floors as a kid.

Now I was there with my own company, helping complete the final clean-out of a store that had been part of Burbank for decades.

That was a powerful feeling.

Watching Burbank Change — and Being Part of It

Burbank continues to grow and evolve, and longtime landmarks sometimes become part of that change.

Being trusted to help with the final removal at Sears wasn’t just another job for us. It felt like a full-circle moment.

It was a reminder of how far things have come — personally and professionally.

Growing up here, then building a business here, and now being part of projects connected to places that shaped the community — that means something.

Moments like this are a quiet reminder that local businesses are part of the story of their cities too.

More Than Just Removing What’s Left Behind

Most days, junk removal is about helping people clear space and move forward.

Sometimes it’s preparing a property for its next chapter.

Sometimes it’s helping families during transitions.

And sometimes — like this one — it’s about closing the door on a place that meant something to a lot of people who grew up in Burbank.

This was one of those moments.

Why This Matters to Us as a Local Burbank Company

Jobs like this remind us why being locally rooted matters.

We’re not just working in Burbank.

We grew up here.

And being trusted to help with projects tied to longtime community spaces like the Sears near the Burbank Town Center is something we don’t take lightly.

It’s part of what makes serving this city meaningful.
